We have a stable workforce with long standing staff. They work diligently to create a challenging, nurturing environment for all children who attend Natural Steps.

Trained in caring for infants, we embrace The Pikler Approach which is based on a respectful relationship between an adult and infant, through choreographed tender care moments, that are enjoyable and unhurried. Older children experience teachers who a inspired by the Reggie Emilia Approach.

Supported by management and a robust appraisal system teachers are constantly evaluating their practice and seeking improvement to improve children’s learning outcomes.

Andrea Daniel - Centre Manager

Kia ora koutou, my name is Andrea and I'm the Centre Manager here at Natural Steps Albany. I've been part of the Natural Steps whānau for nearly 8 years, growing alongside our centre as a teacher, mentor and leader.

I have always had a heart for early childhood education, and I see my role as gently guiding and scaffolding tamariki as they learn and grow. I have a real love for the Pikler approach - slowing down, building respectful relationships, and giving children the time and space they need to develop in their own way. I truly believe every child is capable, and it's such a privilege to be part of their journey as they grow into confident, lifelong learners.

Outside of the centre, I'm a wife and mum to my two girls, Elaina and Josie. As a family, we love music! It's a big part of our home and something that brings us a lot of joy together.

I hold a Bachelor of Business in Marketing and Finance, a Graduate Diploma in Teaching (ECE), as well as my full teacher certification and First Aid certificate.

I look forward to welcoming you and your whānau into our Natural Steps family, and sharing this special place with you.
